Mirrors are a puzzle mechanic that can be found mostly in the Dark Cave.

Mechanics[ | ]

Mirrors are used to reflect light from pillars. Light can come from any of the four cardinal directions, and can be reflected 90-degrees. Light which hits a mirror cannot pass through the mirror. For example, light coming from the East of the mirror cannot be reflected to the West - it must either go North, South, or stop at the mirror.

The mirror must be positioned in such a way that it partly faces a beam of light targeted at it. That is, if the light is coming from the East and the mirror is positioned facing Northwest, the mirror will not reflect any light.

Light reflected from mirrors has a range of 4 tiles. If another mirror is within 4 tiles, it will reflect the light an additional 4 tiles. As a result, by chaining mirrors to reflect each other's light, light can be transmit across an entire map. For example, if a mirror reflects light from the East to the South, and there is another mirror 2 tiles south of the first, that mirror can reflect the light 4 tiles either East or West.

Mirrors cannot reflect light from torches. The light beam reflected by mirrors will turn on any lightbridges in the path of that light.

Variations[ | ]

Moveable Mirrors[ | ]

RedMirrorWiki

These mirrors are fixed in place but can be pushed and pulled around the map to line them up correctly. They are identified by a completely colored-in red base.

Rotateable Mirrors[ | ]

GreenMirrorWiki

These mirrors can be rotated through 4 positions - NW, NE, SE, and SW. To rotate them requires activating a switch. A switch controlling a mirror is color-coded to the detail on the base of the mirror.
